... In Memory of Eagle ...

Our fearless leader ...

in memorium of a man we deeply loved and trusted ...

March 29, 1949 to December 9, 2007

Our friend, StrikeEagle, has passed suddenly and unexpectedly. Many of us knew him from different places, some met him while coming to visit the #wing-commander channel, which he founded and ran for ... well, over ten years. While we all know him from different things, different times, and have different experiences and memories of him, he touched each of our lives. He was always there, lending a shoulder, lending an ear. He enjoyed games, and was full of life. He played Ultima Online with us, he played Starcraft. and more recently became well-known on the EU World of Warcraft server, Kilrogg, where he was the Guild Master of our channel guild, Legion of Light (LOL). However, he created the channel because of his love for the old sci-fi game, Wing Commander.

He didn't need to ask to be leader of anything. We followed him because we wanted to, we looked up to him, and we loved him. It is easy to be sad at the loss and emptiness we all feel that he has passed, but let us instead remember him as he was and how he made us feel, always ready with a hot cup of coffee and a stupid joke. He made us all feel special, knew and accepted us even with our many flaws. He always was the first to stand up for what was right, in his own quiet way. He lead by example, and he inspired us all to be better people.

I can't help but think that the world feels a little colder without him in it. He was beautiful - though I never saw his face - the kind of beauty that transcends mortality. The only words of sympathy that I can offer are that we all loved him very much, and he knew that we did. We all know what he meant to us. Let us think of his absence as a vacation and well-deserved rest. Think of this as his Big Nap in the Sky.

Eagle, you were our friend and our family. I hope that we were as good of a friend to you as you always were to us. You deserve nothing but the best. And, I guess it is some consolation to know that now you are in worthy company. God chose you to be near to Him, because you are one of his Finest. We will think of you in our prayers; we will remember you always. You will never stop being inspiration. May your rest be peaceful, in your Vampire in the sky, and may your days be filled with shooting down enemies in Epees.
